“I am one of the parents who had been approved to use the Hope Scholarship. I was planning to use it for my youngest son’s tuition at Victory Baptist Academy.
My son attended a local Christian school from pre-school through 3rd grade. After that he attended a public school until he finished sixth grade. While the transition seemed to be successful, it has still been hard for him to adjust. Public education can be a great thing for some, but it also teaches values I don’t agree with. We’re a Christian family, and we don’t want our children to be indoctrinated in things we don’t agree with. Unfortunately, homeschooling is not an option for our family since both parents work outside the home.
My husband and I decided to send our son to a different Christian school this coming year that follows more of our beliefs. The Hope Scholarship would have covered about 90-95% of his tuition. This would have helped tremendously! Now, since the scholarship is not able to be used at this time it has put a burden on us to see where we can fit the tuition into our financial situation.
Our son was excited to attend this new school with lots of opportunities. We have yet to tell him that we may not be able to send him.”
